As you are well aware, the spread of coronavirus is wreaking havoc with organizations' schedules around the world, and Thomas Youth League is no exception. The Thomas board is taking this seriously and has discussed several issues related to the virus and the league.
There are no firm updates at this time, but it is very likely that the start of the season will be delayed, perhaps significantly. As it weighs its options, the board is considering guidance from government and health agencies, advisories from national youth sports organizations, the schedules of partner leagues, and limitations from business partners. All of these prohibit our gathering at Thomas Field until at least April 6, which is later than when practices have started in the past. The board believes that further delays are probable, though it is difficult to assess how likely or how long such delays may be.
The league will still be going through the processes of preparing for the season. Teams will be drafted and coaches will be assigned; work on the field and the concession stand will still need to be done. Our hope is to play a full season even if practice and preparation time are shortened, and even if the start of the season is delayed. Volunteers are still needed, particularly at the tee ball level and at the concession stand. Please email us if you are willing to help. The league will send out an email for field work days.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and patience. Our goal as a board is to communicate clearly, and we will keep you updated as decisions are made and as events warrant. We are committed to working with parents and volunteers to offer a safe, enjoyable experience, and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please email this address (
